Investing in our future leaders

Changes to the way apprenticeships are funded have enabled R&HA to invest in our workforce and develop our next generation of business leaders.

We are currently taking advantage of these changes by investing in ten apprentices across our organisation, which gives us the opportunity to set up small learning groups to bring new skills and ideas into the business, as well as refining the talent we already have here.

Introduced in 2017, the Apprenticeship Levy applies to all UK employers with an annual payroll of more than £3m. These organisations pay 0.5% of their payroll into the scheme, which is topped up by a 10% payment from Government.

Employers, such as R&HA, are then able to draw down funding from the Apprenticeship Levy to cover the costs of recruiting and training new apprentices or upskilling existing staff through apprenticeships.

We currently have ten apprentices at R&HA in a variety of roles, including:                                                  

  • Team Leadership apprentices Rafal Borkowski, Irina Snarskaja and Paulina Hajdyla
  • Continuous Improvement Level 3 apprentices Alina Uleru, Sean Pedersen and Maria Smith
  • Continuous Improvement Level 2 apprentices Karolina Skaskiewicz and Valentina Anreea Duta
  • Health and Safety Level 3 apprentice Sorrin Ulidescu
  • AAT Level 3 apprentice Emma Jackson
