I started on a 6 month Graduate placement which gave exposure within the Automotive logistic’s industry. After my initial 6 month placement I was offered an extension.
During this period I worked predominantly on the R&HA logistics productivity database that was being developed. After 12 months I was offered a full-time position and promoted to the position of Logistics Analyst.
Here I was given direct responsibility of a number of mission critical projects, a position I held for 2 and a half years.
In 2012, I was offered my current role as Operations Manager, which sees me take full responsibility of a large percentage of our Oxford based operations.
I was given a lot of exposure to different areas of the company during my time as a Graduate Trainee and Logistics Analyst. I have had the opportunity to work on a lot of projects, including the implementation of the ZF Lemforder contract and working on various competitive tenders. Each project has given me more insight into the company and the industry as well as allowing me to increase my own skills by creating tools that could help me and others along the way, a lot of which are still in use.
Working in the Oxford contract is extremely fast paced and automotive manufacturing is without doubt the most demanding environment that I have worked within. However over the past 4 years it has become second nature and I now enjoy the challenge every day! Commitment, perseverance, application, experience and aptitude are all key attributes of a successful automotive logistician.
I like the fast paced nature of the job and the speed at which ideas can be implemented.
My favourite project was the implementation of the ZF Lemforder contract. It was very interesting to see the transformation from an ‘in-house’ logistics department to the R&HA managed operation. In all I spent 4 months working in Darlaston which was very interesting. I was able to create a lot of processes and systems from scratch, it was great to have the opportunity to show the business what I’m capable of.
I am a big motorsports fan and have competed in the past, both as a driver and as part of pit crew. I have built my own track car and go on as many track days as I can over the UK and occasionally Europe. I am currently organising an event for a charity called Mission Motorsport, which has already helped them to purchase and prepare a car for injured servicemen and get them competing in a race series for the year.
I did a skydive a few years ago and would like to get my licence!
