Spotlight on Paul Byrne Contract Manager
24th March 2011
After completing a two year electrical apprenticeship I still wasn't sure what I wanted to do from a career perspective, and somewhat stumbled into Warehousing and Logistics.
My first step into Logistics was as a reach truck driver in a Cash & Carry, a large operation and extremely fast moving and so my understanding of warehousing and stock movement began.
It wasn’t long before I was working in the largest motor manufacturing facility in the UK – Rover Group. Starting as a goods receipt forklift driver and finishing as an operations manager I learned all about automotive logistics alongside some of the most prominent names in logistics today.
Once I left Rover I had a brief spell at Jaguar (5 Years), I was lucky enough to be part of the ‘S’ Type launch and progression from a single shift operation to a two shift operation.
In 2003 I started with Rudolph and Hellmann
Rudolph and Hellmann appealed to me, a fresh young company with ambition, ideas, and a desire to achieve. Nothing was too big or too small, Rudolph and Hellman wanted the chance to do as much as possible and be successful in every business opportunity it undertook.
Rudolph & Hellmann’s big appeal to me was their lack of “red tape” if something was needed decisions were made almost instantly without the fuss and often insane process of being passed around several departments before a decision could be made. The directors have an open door policy, enabling straight to the top communication. In the fast paced environment of automotive logistics this gives a huge advantage.
Although decisions can be made quickly they are never made lightly with well in excess of 200 years top automotive experience there is a vast pool of knowledge to draw from.
My decision to join Rudolph and Hellmann was definitely one of my better ones, and as the company continues to grow so do the opportunities and challenges all of which are met with the same level of enthusiasm given to the very first day Rudolph and Hellmann opened its doors.
