Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive assist world-class Automotive OEM with prototype build of exciting new model
When a leading world-class, prestigious UK based OEM announced it planned to design and launch a new model and platform, it turned to it’s current Lead Logistics Provider, Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive, to support with Inbound Transport, off-site logistics storage and on-site logistics and linefeed during the Vehicle Proofing build stages.
The planning stages were already in motion back in 2014, when the Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive planning and development team were requested to calculate and design the additional required warehousing space off-site for the new model launch, as part of a large scale warehouse move seamlessly carried out by the R&HA team in 2015.
The OEM had already implemented significant changes at its state-of-the-art Manufacturing facility to facilitate the first stages of the prototype build, by re-configuring one of its manufacturing lines with new tooling and assembly equipment. It had also previously built new facilities on-site to carry out the assembly of the car chassis and vehicle panel assembly on the new vehicles, as well as the paint application.
All of these additional manufacturing process required support in the provision of physical logistics services. Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive were tasked to take control of over 900 additional part lines, including Full box and Pallet Linefeed delivery, kitted parts and sequenced parts and deliver to four separate main areas in the Manufacturing Plant.
The entire project ran to schedule and all planned units were built successfully with minimal down-time. The dedicated Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive team manged all revised processes, two additional dedicated on-site logistics areas, additional use of off-site logistics space additional resource and MHE, as well as manging circa 150 additional transport collections from current and new suppliers both UK and Europe.
The whole project was manged utilising the current Planning team and was delivered within the agreed budget, and the entire project ran to schedule and all planned units were built successfully with minimal down-time.
