Imagine replacing a floor in a core operational area without disrupting the manufacturing process
15th September 2010
The warehouse, which stored products directly feeding the manufacturing line, is a core operational area. Producing some 5,000 cars a week, the floor replacement project had the potential to seriously impact on production.
The manufacturer selected a dedicated project team which was a mixture of Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive specialists and their own managers.
7,500 pallet locations moved
The total project duration was set at six months and split into three stages.
The project was carefully planned and executed with military precision; beginning with the removal of 28 rows (in excess of 7,500 pallet locations).
“The dedicated team were aware of the impact on the production line if we got it wrong. Working together as a team we were determined this wasn’t going to happen.” Martin Rollings, Managing Director, Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive Ltd.
Delivered ahead of schedule without any loss of production
Not a single build loss was attributable to the disruption of works during the essential maintenance required.
Production was unaffected, the majority of workers within the manufacturing plant were unaware of the scale of the project or even that any maintenance work was being carried out.
Just one of many...
This was one of the many unusual challenges faced by Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive, and highlights where their specialist experience and automotive manufacturing knowledge has been invaluable to their clients.
