How aware are your operatives?
8th July 2011
Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive are dedicated to providing a best-in-class production logistics service. This is why at all operational sites the ‘always look to improve your best’ ethos is demonstrably encouraged to all employees.
Communication in a busy production environment is often challenging so you must keep it simple
Operational awareness notice boards provide key performance details within various areas of Rudolph and Hellmann managed warehouses. The communication boards offer all employees (both Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive and client personnel) key operational performance data on a shift-by-shift basis, of separate areas of the operation including goods receipt, putaway, picking, goods issue, daily car build and overall right first time performance.
Visualised in an easy to interpret format makes it easy to compare performance
KPI’s are visualised in an easy to interpret format alongside the previous shift and operating day’s statistics. This provides the ability for any employee to compare against his/her previous day’s performance at the beginning, middle or end of shift, without leaving the work area.
Keeping each person clear about the objectives set and the reason why
The Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive operational project team take overall responsibility for updating the communication boards. This ensures each performance indicator is accurately presented to all levels of operations staff to raise overall awareness. This is supported with encouragement for them to continually take pride and responsibility in delivering a flexible quality driven service to the end customer.
“If people are clear about the route you want them to take, you get better results and increased motivation.” Jeff Hyde, Finance Director and Company Secretary, Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive
