Home Grown Timber - promoting a career in logistics

R&HA are launching a new strategy to engage with youngsters in the local area to promote a career in logistics. It celebrates our ethos of 'Home Grown Timber' where we prefer to develop people in-house and provide rapid career development for those who demonstrate the right attitude.

Logistics has touched everything around you

Inspired by the careers of the leadership team at Rudolph and Hellmann Automotive, the 'Home Grown Timber' scheme is designed to highlight career progression opportunities within the sector. Logistics is an almost invisible force to most, goods magically appear just when needed. But whether it's managing the supply of raw materials, production logistics, or finished goods to the consumer - the opportunities for personal development are vast to anyone serious about forging a career in the industry. Most people 'fall into logistics' by taking on a temporary job in a warehouse or something similar, it's not a profession people think of aspiring to when at school or in further education. There are graduate positions in logistics, and R&HA do recruit at graduate level, but no matter where you start within our organisation - career progression is in your hands.

Actively seeking opportunities to engage with schools and colleges

The case for stable and long-term employment and career development is strong within the logistics sector. R&HA are shining examples of how motivated people can realise success within our organisation – our story is unbelievable but it's true. Which is why we want to exhibit at the career’s fairs of local schools and colleges - and tell our amazing story.  It's hoped doing this will attract high value talent and challenge the preconceptions of what working in the sector is really like. At a time when recruiting in general is very challenging, this campaign is aimed at showcasing the range of opportunities which logistics has to offer. Showcasing the career progression stories of the leaders in our business and highlighting the potential for those finish state education with few formal qualifications. How you leave formal education doesn’t define you, the barrier to where you end up is down to your determination, attitude and hunger to develop new skills.

Challenging preconceived ideas of the sector

Our goal is simple, to encourage workers of all ages to investigate the possibilities of a career in logistics with R&HA. We need to engage young talent to meet the increasing demands placed upon logistics. The logistics sector must reposition itself to meet the demands of tomorrow by welcoming the class of 2024 and beyond.
